DOES AN OLD-SCHOOL BOBBER HAVE TO BE A HARLEY-DAVIDSON?

I went to a local bike show today. It was at a local Harley-Davidson shop but the bike that caught my attention was not a Harley-Davidson… it was a Honda Shadow that had been customized to look like an old-school bobber. Take a look… what do you think? Does an old-school bobber have to be a Harley-Davidson? This is a pretty good argument that the answer is no… this bike looks great to me.

  1. Does an old school bobber have to be a HD? I agree with you, no…there are some incredible bobbers out there that are not HD. For example: http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/6565/img1219p9sw.jpg or http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/5140/blacktrump2tq5.jpg

  2. Hey, that’s a VLX, the same bike I’ve got. And they are the perfect bikes to bob. I recently bought a panhead style tractor seat to put on mine, but it’s just a little to big to fit on the bike as it is… So, now I get to put a new fender on the back so the seat will fit.
So far on my bike I’ve taken the front fender off, have 16″ apes, have wrapped cobra dag pipes and the paint is black with very small blue flake. When the new rear fender goes on (probably a trailer fender) I’ll repaint the bike a flat black.

It’s cool to see the little VLX getting some respect, thanks for posting the pictures.

  5. Does it have to be a Harley? Triumph 650’s. Honda 750-Four. Yamaha XS 1100 Special. BSA’s. Norton.

It can be whatever the owner wants.
